Have a Merry Kyusi Christmas, everyone!

Like any typical Pinoy family, Quezon City is preparing for Christmas. Slowly but surely, Kyusi has been putting up decorations, lighting-up key locations and sprucing-up tired facades.

Yup. So very much like a typical Pinoy family during Christmas.

Except, of course, Quezon City is SO not typical at all. For one thing, unlike the typical Pinoy family, everything Kyusi does seems to be on a grand scale.

Does stringing "Christmas lights" on windows to outline Belen scenes seem too much for you? Try festooning streetlamps along all major roads with huge multi-colored parols!

And what about those gigantic Christmas Trees that begin to sprout all around Kyusi when December kicks in?

Cool, no? We really picked the right City to live in!
:D

Have a Merry Kyusi Christmas, everyone!

Yes. This is exactly how I feel today.

 Haaays...
Ikaw kasi e. You let the alcohol get into your head.
And then you let your mouth do the talking, instead of your mind.
Now look at!
He probably thinks you're a ditz na.

RP Football Team -- The "Azkals" -- win over Vietnam!

Oh My God! I can't get over how insanely amazing this event is! Imagine, we beat Vietnam! And drew a game with Singapore! Both countries are acknowledged Champions in Southeast Asia, man!

Next team to beat is Myanmar. :-)

It may not have been Dengue... but it COULD have!

I am so angry today!

So angry that, to plagiarize a phrase from god-knows-who again, I could slap a kitten! And I love cute cuddly kittens!

That's how godawful angry I am.

Back a few steps...

My nephew was recently rushed to the hospital by his dad (my eldest brother) on suspicions that he (the baby, not the father) had Dengue.

Long story, short? After a very expensive "Rapid Dengue Evaluation" test, they found out it wasn't Dengue after all (thank god for that!) but MEASLES.

Wait. Measles? Aren't babies supposed to be inoculated for that? My dear cute, ever-smiling (although often bossy) baby nephew should have already been immunized by his pediatrician and spared the frantic 1AM, 30-minute tricycle trip to the hospital's ER. For chrissakes, he's only 7 months old!

Apparently, the doctor at the ER was as surprised as I was when he found out that NO, my nephew hadn't had that vaccine yet. Why not, he asked my brother. Because his pedia told his parents that that vaccine was usually given when babies reach 9 months old.

The ER doctor was aghast. "No it isn't! It's given when they are 6 months old!"

My baby nephew's Mom, and I'm retelling this exactly as my brother told it to me, could only shake her head in disbelief. Yes, she is a kind soul.

My kuya, on the other hand, and knowing him since forever, was probably imagining many different, painful ways to get back at his son's pedia.

Me? I'd SUE the muthrfcker blind!

But that's just me. And knowing that we don't have a Medical Malpractice Law yet (unlike many other countries), suing might not get me anywhere. Hell, the pedia has more money than me, for one thing.

Teka. Eh kung ipakulam ko na lang kaya itong si Wicked Pedia? :-)
